Scott Walters is a true Soldier Lawyer—a battle-hardened veteran whose remarkable journey began as an enlisted combat engineer in the U.S. Army. He rose through the ranks, graduating from Officer Candidate School to become an infantry officer and later serving as an infantry platoon leader. While transitioning to the Inactive Ready Reserve (IRR), Scott pursued his legal education at Tulane Law School, earning his J.D. before re-entering active duty as an Army Judge Advocate in 1997.Over the course of an extraordinary 26-year career as a JAG officer, Scott served on six of the seven continents, including multiple deployments to combat zones. He held key leadership roles such as Brigade Judge Advocate, Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, and Staff Judge Advocate, providing critical counsel to commanders at every level. As both a prosecutor and defense counsel, he tried numerous contested courts-martial, skillfully representing clients ranging from Private to Lieutenant General. By the time of his retirement, Scott was recognized as one of the most experienced military justice practitioners across the entire Department of Defense. Today, as a member of O’Connell West, PLLC, Scott brings this unparalleled depth of military and legal expertise to clients facing UCMJ actions, administrative proceedings, and other military-related legal challenges.
